A brief history of my SEO experience in Kitchener and area
In 2004, I started work for a Guelph company (Geosign) that rose to international prominence in the relatively early days of search engine optimization and search marketing.

During my tenure there I became Production Manager in a publishing department that published over 100 significant websites. I was the first editor of wealthygeek.com and the progenitor of onlinelearning101.com. This site dominated search engine result pages (SERPs) for very competitive terms related to online degrees, study abroad, online schools, etc. I was also responsible for the development of content for a cosmetic surgery site that eventually found a home as plasticsurgeons.com.

As editor, researcher and project manager, I led the development of over 50 other sites that often dominated search results, along with nearly 100 other highly profitable sites that benefited from search marketing through Google AdWords. SEO people I worked alongside and learned from during this time included Stephen Noton, Rae Hoffman and Rand Fishkin (among many other top talents). I was with the company until its demise* and takeover by American Capital in 2007.

Since my time with Geosign I have moved beyond a localization in Kitchener-Waterloo to work with companies from the Greater Toronto Area, New York state and elsewhere. Ideally I work with design or development companies who refer clients but I am always happy to field any internet marketing or SEO inquiries from companies in Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, Cambridge and area.

*The problems that resulted in Geosign's demise were not mine or that of anyone else discussed on this page. In fact, we all left the company within a short time of each other. The company might now be somewhat notorious but the experience gained was invaluable.
